How to Make Healthy Homemade Dog Treats - the Easy Way!

Updated: Jul 20, 2021

Like so many pet parents, when standing in an aisle at a pet store surveying all of the newest available treats, I often say to myself, "I should make my own dog treats from scratch." This idea sounds good for about two seconds, then I sigh, toss a bag of treats in my cart and carry on.

The Problem: How Do I Find the Time to Make Delicious Homemade Dog Treats?

I would love to regularly make my own dog biscuits for Bailey and Bentley as I know how healthy my homemade dog treats would be. Just like seeing all of the actual ingredients in my own dinner makes me feel good, seeing everything that goes into my dog's treats also makes me feel great. Unfortunately, two things usually prevent me from taking on an afternoon of dog biscuit baking: (1) I am already stretched for the day; and (2) I have the world's pickiest dog eaters. They have actually been known to snub their nose at the most decadent steak because they were really craving lamp chops instead (can we say spoiled?).

The Solution: Let Knead Love Bakeshop Provide You with the Tools to Make Quick Homemade Dog Treats

Knead Love Bakeshop is a small business out of St. Louis, Missouri, run by three siblings (who by the way are all under the age of 18 - don't you just love kids with such great entrepreneurial skills?). The company is solely dedicated to selling treat mixes for dogs that are 100% natural and organic, and offer multiple flavors, including chicken and sweet potato, peanut butter and banana, beef jerky and cheese, and even a grain-free cheese and carrot option.

The company reached out to me recently and gave me two different treat mixes to try out for myself. I absolutely love testing out fresh new products that are great for your pets and make the job of a dog mom easier, so I was happy to accept these treats to try them out for myself.

The Process: Easy Homemade Dog Treats

The process is super simple, so no need to worry about your kitchen skills. Everything you need to prepare the treats for baking is included with the treat mix. Simply remove the plastic from the jar, unscrew the top of the container, and remove the piping bag that is located in the lid. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees. Then, follow these steps:

Step 1: Pour the dry mixture into the piping bag.
